Remember the pincushions from the last post? Well hey, that was only the beginning!! I think I'm possessed with this whole thing now! E-gads! First I had to wait for my 100% cotton batting, (which is working pretty well, I'll admit), but now I'm hearing about all sorts of other stuff I should be using, like reptile litter (crushed walnut shells....and there are different grades) and crushed silca sand (which comes in a 100 lb bag...or so). Now, I really don't know what to do! Should I stop or continue with what I have? I did buy the walnut shell stuff yesterday ($10 for 7 lbs), but have been told that the brand I got wasn't fine enough. Poop! Things are desperate too....see my current pincushion:
Think it needs replacement? Poor thing! Lord knows how many lost pins might be inside!! In the meantime, while I'm deciding, I thought you might want to see the latest creations:
And I'm not done yet! E-gads.....I told you I was possessed!! AND THEN......the doll swap is starting again!!! Oh my....another marathon! Looks like I'm going to have one busy summer!!
i think your obsession has been a good thing!! all of your pincushions are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love pincushions! Yours are so fun! Make more!
ReplyDeleteAll your pincushions are amazing. I love !
ReplyDeleteYou ARE possessed, but look at your old pincushion. You could probably use ALL of the others.
ReplyDeleteThe Silica Sand is probably the cheapest and easiest to get this time of year because it's used for pool filters.
ReplyDeleteMy pins don't have a long enough life span to worry about what's in my pin cushion! But, now I know to ask what's in them...holy crap I'd be itching like crazy because of walnut shells and never know why.
Your pin cushions are just too cute!
ReplyDeleteOkay - WOW! Those are sew cute. I thought I've seen just about every type/style of cushion - but yours are so cute and unique. And, just for the heck of it - I make pin cushion (mouses!http://clevelandgirlie.blogspot.com/2008/12/mouse-parade-on-etsy.html ) and I use - drumroll........ Aquarium Sand in mine. Nice weight to it, and sharpens pins! So now you can add that to your shopping list. Wallmart and petstores carry it.
ReplyDeleteAnytime you'd like to do a little pincushion swap - I'm in!
YOU.ARE.AMAZING!!! Have I said that before???
ReplyDeleteSooo cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the red-white ones with the shabby seams!

ReplyDeleteWhat super pincushions! Lovely designs and colours. Are they all for your Swap? If so there will be a lot of happy people out there! I've seen lots of your other pincushions on Flickr and so many are my favourites. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteStick with what you're using. I think these are the cat's meow. I tried making the tuna can pincushions and they are hard to get the folds out. I might try yours. Love your colors. Sharon M
