Do you remember when we made this? I noted that a few of you tried it and perhaps I didn't make myself clear....but I did not use the #12 pearle cotton thread on that quilt, but instead when I do something this intricate I use #30 weight thread. It is a bit thicker than regular sewing cotton, but no where near as thick as the pearle cotton. Besides, when I used the pearle cotton, I had to hide all my ends (quite a pain in the neck if you ask me), whereas with the #30, if you're careful and go up and down lots when starting and stopping, you can cut off your ends.
Well, anyway, I made two more to show you.
And:
Note how different they look with the different colors and quilting. I thought #3 was pretty cool, until I got out #1 and #2 and realized that they were much brighter. Where was I on #3 Mandala day anyway? Usually I only grab the bright crayons.......ummmmmm????
I think I'm done with these now..........at least for awhile. My next move will be to design my own coloring quilt of shapes.....what do you think of that?????? (I'm thinking it'll probably be an after Christmas project though....eikes.....too much to do before then.)
AMAZING! Love the clours that you used. The binding to match. Truly lovely. I printed mine off and there it sits. Maybe after Christmas....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the clarification, Carol. Mine sure looks primitive next to yours! My biggest problem (besides the stitching by machine) is keeping my crayons sharp enough. Guess I'll practice more after Christmas. Too much to do to finish my gifts right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks again!! Yours really are stunning!

wow!!! Stunning work! I love this quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteThese just make my heart sing. I have bought all the things I need, now just a little time and I am going to try it myself. Your quite the inspiration there Missy! Beautiful, just beautiful, can I say more?
ReplyDeletehmmm, let me think.....your "own coloring quilt of shapes"...what exactly can that mean?...knowing you, Carol, I'm sure I can't even imagine what it will be like. I feel the anticipation of something wonderful coming!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! I love them! They are so beautiful. I would love to make one some day.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. I've been viewing lots of "mug rugs" & your technique has given me an idea to utilize your crayon method to make a mug rug--the only issue---elongating the pattern to fit rectangularly!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :)

ReplyDeleteGood God, Lady! You are so good and this is breathtaking. How come all your quilts look like they need to be hanging in a gallery? You are just that good.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE #3! The blue around the edge is wonderful! And thanks to you Carol Madame Samm has asked to use one of my creations in her January 'blue' banner!!! Suz
ReplyDeleteThese are so unique and stunning, Carol. Love how you really go with a series!
ReplyDeleteThese are magnificent! You are soooo talented. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteNot to get off topic but how are the turtle doves coming? I just thought that perhaps you needed a little more pressure LOL!! Seriously...your Mandalas are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove these! The best of two worlds...quilting and coloring :)
ReplyDeleteI love the second one. Looks like periwinkle blue which was always a favorite crayon color of mine way back when.

ReplyDeleteHello, I have come to your blog from Stash manicure. I am so awed by your quilts! You say you use 'crayon and trapunto' method. So, this little quilt is colored? basically? That is so amazing. I love your turtle doves too.
