Guess who's running the household?

There is a reason that God doesn't let old people have babies!  There should also be a reason that old people shouldn't get puppies!  E-gads, we are tired!  Our legs feel like jelly from hurdling all these dumb baby gates all over and doing it while carrying a sewing machine, is even worse, believe me!  AND, once I am in position to sew, I have watch this little guy every minute so he doesn't "eat" my cords.  My computer cord already has teeth marks!  I'm wondering when I will be out of "juice" because of that.  Perhaps I should go to the Apple store now and buy another power cord, just in case.

We do love him though.  He has brought such life (if that's what you want to call it when you fall asleep on the couch at 7:30 pm from sheer exhaustion) to this household.  Last night we thought we wore him out.  He was sleeping at 8:30 and we sighed a sign of relief just to have our eyes free for a minute.  Needless to say, we had no idea he'd wake at 11:30 and howl and cry until I finally came in the kitchen to get him at 2 am to bring him to bed with us.  Then, not a peep out of him until 6:30.  Can you say, spoiled?

Hi Everyone!

What fun to watch an ant crawl across the floor, huh?

  5. That last sentence just made me laugh out loud.
I understand the part about why old folks don't have children. Puppies are the old-folk's version of children. YIKES.
All we own is a cat. An outside cat at that. I have been tempted to get another parakeet, then remember all the worry, hard work, baby-sitting etc that goes into a new baby, no matter what the species.
Your little guy is cute. The little pill, howling in the kitchen until you take him to bed with you. He's got the right idea, doesn't he? Breaking you down at your most vulnerable sleepy time. But how do you resist such a cute puppy face? I am not a fan of dogs, but his face might tempt me to break all rules. ha ha.

  8. There must be something you can put on the wires so he won't chew on them... maybe from a big box pet store. Good Luck! Cute pup!

  9. Not spoiled..just overly loved like mine.. yes they sleep with us too, and that way we know what they are up to. I think I was just about at my breaking point with our last one... when he finally figured it all out. Now, he is just the best dog ever!! We really love his dumbness.. Yep he can be dumb, but he really is a smart dog.. how those two go together??? You would really have to know him!

  11. He is absolutely one of the cutes balls of fur that I have ever seen. But, your gate jumping is only one of the reasons that I have talked myself out of getting a doggie. I would love to have one for the companionship.

  13. There are advantages to rescuing one year olds, but then you don't get the cute baby pics. Soooo adorable!!

  14. If you're not going to spoil them, then why have any kind of a pet? They are a big part of the family. Good luck with the adjustment period. It will simmer down soon. (With such a sweet face, he's going to be able to get away with a lot!)

  17. Laughing..Hi Carol,

My "baby Izzy" chewed right through my Mac cord two days into having her home..(Note to self..never laugh at how cute a standard poodle puppy looks chewing a power cord!)

Give the little fellow some time, he have it in two soon!

My advice, have a spare! Have fun with the "wee one"

  24. OMG I REALLY am sorry BUT....... I am sitting here laughing my butt off. You sound like me back in 2003 when we drove to MI to pick up my purebred Ragdoll kitten. I swear this cat was worse than when I had my own twins at the age of 2yrs old. He was constantly into EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! I paid my dues so I think I'm ok to laugh at your comments. Right? ok?

Anyway, LOOK at that adorable little face on that little guy. He's just SOOOOOOOO cut!! Who could be mad for more than five minutes at that face? I want to hop in my car and drive up to your house and just hold onto him for an hour. Of course, I'm not going to tell you just how close I live or you may take me up on that offer just so you can rest your eyes for an hour. LOL

  25. I know he is a tiny little thing... but try to find a small "round" hollow ball that has a hole in it that will allow you to stuff kibbles of food in it. They make a ball called a KONG stuffer but it might be too big for him. You can get a small tennis ball (made for small dogs) and drill 1 hole in it that is slightly bigger than the puppy kibble pieces. Then put about 5 pieces of kibble in the ball center and roll it across the floor. The dog will learn to roll it around with his nose and the kibble will eventually fall out of the hole. This will keep your pup busy and will wear him out. (you can try any soft type dog treat that you can break up into little pieces to stick inside the ball. They have to be small enough to fall out of the hole in the ball.)

  26. Here is a video of my german pinscher playing with his stuffed Kong ball. When he was a pup we started him out on a smaller ball that had a single hole in it. (like a mini tennis ball with a hole drilled into it)

It keeps them busy and wears them out.

  27. Google " Mini Tennis Ball " and you will see what I am talking about. They are about 2" in diameter and are easy to drill 1 hole into it. (about a 3/8" diameter hole and put 1/4" size kibble/treats in the hole - let it drop into the center of the ball)

  30. Oh my Goodness! What a little sweetie! If you decide you can't put up with the puppy antics, I'll take him:) We had a puppy about 3 yrs. ago and he chewed everything in the house including our computer cord! They grow out of it though and are the best companions. I think it's so sweet he likes to sleep with you. Just precious. Have a nice day! Twyla
