"Downtown"

Whew.......I finally finished "Downtown"!  Now I don't dare move it because it's so fragile with just my hand stitched-down windows holding those 165 fused window pieces in place.  I really should hang it, I suppose, but my ambition has flown out the window today.  My hubby brought home a cold last week and although I stayed away from him as much as I could, I'm feeling a dilly of a scratchy throat this morning!  UGH!  I hope this isn't the beginning of something!  The past two days I've also taken a nap, which isn't like me at all (unless I'm bored out of my mind....like during Christmas when my sewing machine is packed away for a couple of weeks.)  I still haven't made my partner's quilt for the Fab Little Quilt swap either....(the whimsey one that you all are waiting for, I'm thinking????)  I'm actually trying to decide if I should attempt free piecing, OR go to my fusing standby process.  (I probably could whip it up that way in no time........but free piecing might be a real challenge.  OH what to do??)  While I'm sitting here deciding, there's no reason I can't show you "Downtown" all finished, I suppose:

"Downtown" - completed

And here is a close up of the gazillion windows:

A close up of the windows

I think that quilt would be really cool above the desk of a city planner, don't you?  Too bad I don't know any city planners!!  Oh well............I think I'll go take a couple of Tylenol's now.  Even my Diet Pepsi isn't helping me this morning........ugh!!

  2. Please run out immediately and get some 'Airborne' the sooner you take it the better and don't be stingy. I chew 4 tablets 3-4 times the first day and then the next day lower the amount gradually based on how much better I'm feeling.
Stick with your old stand by technique, Its the one your most comfortable with and nothing new should be tried unless you are well and loaded with energy.

  9. Emergen-C works for when I'm feeling a cold coming on. Drink that OJ instead of the Pepsi. My BIL is a City Planner but I think it's a little bright for him. Have a nice Nap today too and get feeling better.

  15. So sorry you are not feeling well, Carol. I buy tea bags called Throat Coat when my throat feels scratchy. You can look in the herbal teas or the health section at the market. Honey and cinnamon is soothing also. Love your quilt...I think you outdid yourself! Get better soon!

  19. I think Gobsmackingly gorgeous sums it up! (Thanks Trudi). Plenty of vitamin c, water, rest & paracetamol/ibroprufen (whatever your brand names are) is what you need.

  20. Poop...sounds like you're getting sick, Carol. I hope it goes away quickly & doesn't hang around for 3 weeks, like mine. Ugh!

Your downtown quilty is darling...what a daunting task to hand sew all those windows! Yikes!!

Do hang it up for all to enjoy.

  23. Wow! Incredible, but then that's what I've come to expect of you! As for the quilt, why not do one fused and one pieced?
