I am not a Pinterest user. I just seemed never to have the time to gather up all those cute pictures and now I'm glad I didn't. If you do nothing else today and have a Pinterest account.........you must read this blog. It is in your best interest and might just save you from a lawsuit:

Oh my goodness! Thanks for sharing. I had no idea.
ReplyDeleteI didn't go to your link but I read a blog post about it a couple of weeks ago. It appears the whole world is going to be in trouble.
ReplyDeleteHmmm.. interesting how they are thinking of turning a profit soon. I heard on the radio a little bit about their company, and right now, they do not make money off of the site. I figure it's much like Facebook and considering how that has turned out, I'm glad to have deleted my account (as far as they would allow, that is).
ReplyDeleteI had read the post about the legal issues with their user agreement and decided to add watermarks to my photos so someone couldn't take them as their own. Now I'm starting to reconsider and possibly block items from being pinned from my site. Of course, that wouldn't stop anyone from pinning from Flickr or saving an image to their computer and then uploading.
Thank you for pointing out more about this issue. I could probably go on and on about this, but will save you that. :)
I followed the link and put it on my Blog so I don't get my designs and photos PINNED. I don't 'Pin' either. I spend way too much time on my Favorite Blogs commenting. It is more fun to be Blogging.
ReplyDeleteI initially liked the community feeling of pinterest, but it's sad when other people's ideas are being stolen or improperly credited. thanks for sharing this, carol.
ReplyDeleteRett is going to have lots of blog traffic today. I, too, put her post as a link on my blog. It's certainly something to be aware of.

I'm not sure how other people can take credit for a pin especially since they link right back to the original. Having said that, I just deleted everything that wasn't my work on my account. I would like to know how to prevent people from using my photos?
ReplyDeleteWow - I had no idea. I had a Pinterest account and just deleted it. Hadn't done anything with it in months and unfortunately I had put my own pictures of quilts out there. Shame on me for not knowing this before putting it out there.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this!
Blessings,
Darlene
Thank you. I deleted my account. I think we're so used to "terms of use" we forget to read them and understand the actual implications.
ReplyDeleteI've also decided not to use Pinterest, and did some posts to the same effect, recently.
