I think this is the first time in my whole married life that I haven't had my Christmas cards addressed and ready to go by now. I just can't seem to catch up lately and I still have a ton of shopping to do yet. I wish I was savvy enough to know how to find everything I'm thinking of buying online....but the shipping might just flip me out!!
Instead, I sit here and try to fill my obligations for the various swaps I joined. (Think that might be an avoidance issue?? I'm sorta thinking that might be it!! After all, I always want to hibernate during the holiday season anyway because of all the extra work and this year was no different.......although my baking is done and my house is decorated!)
The bitty block swaps have been going nuts! Besides, the polaroid side swap that I showed you last time, there is also a December group.......this time birds, and aliens. You can guess which one I decided to make. (In double, no less since I mentioned that I'd do 2 groupings.) I already made the required amount for group 2:
Then, I decided to use some of the million (it seems) blocks that I've acquired since starting that group and make them into doll quilts for both my granddaughter and great niece for Christmas. I picked out some of the cutest ones and thought an "I spy" type quilts would be fun. I finished the one for my almost 5 year old great niece yesterday:
I didn't get the rows exactly straight, but I don't think it'll bother her. I even did a sewn down binding.......horrors......figuring we're dealing with a kid here.......although she is a very responsible and gentle, only child. It'll be hard to see those darling bitties leave my house!!! I have become very attached to many of them!
Yesterday, I also started the birds for group 1........needless to say, they are still in process:
Don't be sassy and tell me it looks more like a chicken. I sort think so too! I could keep it for another month since "chickens" are coming up.........but I already have plans for a chicken or 24, so this has to pass for a bird. I'm thinking of calling it a "Love Bird"......thus the heart. Call me crazy!
They all look wonderful, so cute, I love all the little blocks you make, you mention chickens are coming up shortly, is this a swap you do? I'm sure your granddaughter will love her quilt.
ReplyDeleteHope your hand has healed?
Have a nice day!
those birds have so much personality! love them
ReplyDeleteCute.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss the Pecan Pie recipe? It looks delicious.
Oh, I love that doll quilt! I think every child would love to see that on a wall, too! I love your birds, they are always so cute and happy!
ReplyDeleteFor my surprise I just posted my cards but no baking or decorating has happened yet. I wish I could give you more ours to make your amazing quilts! x Teje
My Christmas Cards are not even printed yet!
ReplyDeleteThe doll quilt is absolutely adorable. What great blocks.
ReplyDeleteChickens are birds.
ReplyDeleteGreat Quilt! Your bitty bird blocks are so adorable and no I don't think it looks like a chicken, at least that wasn't my first thought. Love Bird is the way to go for sure - too cute!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to see you using those sweet bitty blocks in a project. Your great niece will love it!
ReplyDeleteThe cutsie bitty blocks are fabulous for a child's play quilt! I couldn't think of a better use for them. You're the best bird woman out there! And someone already beat me to it...a chicken is a bird. But this chicken bird is in love.....I think with that pretty feather bird ahead of him.
ReplyDeleteThree times proves it - a chicken IS a bird and really would the "Bird" police complain?? No - its a very cute black whichever way you think of it. and so is the I Spy!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love that baby quilt! It is a super fun eye-spy quilt! I am behind or just unmotivated this year for Christmas cards as well. I usually make mine with some pics I have taken. This year I bought vintage cards, added some glitter and they are cute. BUT, I made far less than I usually do. I send out a lot and get only a few...so guess who gets homemade cards this year??? The deadbeats who don't send get a store bought card this year...and that includes most of our kids!!! Have a good week! Sue.
ReplyDeleteSweet little birdies.
ReplyDeleteLove the great blocks sewing. Like the fresh colors you use. Getting a good mood every time I visit your blog.Wishing you good days ahead and hope your hand has been good again.
ReplyDeletewarm greetings from Norway.
Your animals have a personality to them that make them seem real. Your drawing are so simple and yet that's the beauty in them. The I Spy quilt is way past cute. Grandpeep should have lots of snuggly fun with it!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
