You know, (or maybe you don't) but in the swapping world, it's almost a requirement that you "gush" over what you receive from your partner no matter even if you hate it! (Kinda goes against my "tell it like it is" theory in life, but what can I do?) Everyone's gotta play nice, I suppose! Problem with that is that when you do get something you absolutely REALLY love and adore, how do you express it? You can go on and on, and hopefully express your true joy, but what else? I wish I knew because last week was probably my BEST week of swapping yet! I got two really awesome things and you MUST see them! First off, I got a darling mini from "bouncypoodle" alias Patti for the STUD swap. Remember, she was the one who decided on Disney songs for the theme rather than just plain Disney? If you go back a few posts, you can see what I made her, but here is the marvelous beauty she made for me:
Check out that detail! Did you see the tail feathers on the birds? They are 3D! It is so amazing in person, that I am overwhelmed! This lady has only been mini quilting for a few months too. I actually had her call me on the phone for some tips! Too cool! And the label? Another piece of art, believe me! I usually just write something on the back. No fancy stuff for me.......but look at this:
Now, that was perfection! I should take lessons (although I probably won't!) My feelings is that the label is against the wall anyway, so why jazz it up, and besides, by then, I want to move on to the next project anyway! LOL
THEN, not only was that awesome, but I think I got the BEST mug rug in the whole swap this time on Saturday! I'm thinking it's maybe the best mug rug I ever got? I adore it and it's already hanging in my kitchen so I can see it everyday! I gushed up and down (in truth) when I thanked her and I hope she really knows how much I cherish this piece of art!! "Littleloops" alias Lynda, really went all out for me! When I first saw it in the Flickr swap, I was so impressed, that I couldn't get over the work she put into this little 8 1/2 inch square beauty, but then when it arrived at my doorstep and I had a chance to see it in person, I was more awed! True perfection!!
Check out the individual corners:
Did you see all the additional embroidery? Tons of work!! And what a beauty! I am truly blessed and hurray for my swap mama who gave me such a great partner. I wasn't too keen on what I had to make for my partner considering she wasn't nuts about raw edged applique, but I sure got a good one making for me!! Sometimes that happens! Now, I'm all raring to go again! For awhile, I really had my doubts about swapping.........but these beauties restored my faith! Thank you! Both of you! I LOVE them!
You received 2 beauties for sure!!!! As soon as I saw the first one, I KNEW it was the "Tiki Room"!! They both did such a great job. In this case, you definitely "got" what you "gave"!! Perfection!
ReplyDeleteWow on both counts!
ReplyDeleteThey're both so great! I could look at them all day! You're one lucky duck!
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking--you lucky girl you!!
ReplyDeleteOh you should gush - these are both gorgeous. Super works of art to admire.
ReplyDeleteWhat talent! "Bouncypoodle" looks like she was a protege of mama cjt :-) They are both wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe Tiki Room Glee Club is really awesome! Especially the eyes! Your partner did a great job!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteboth are beautiful!!! you are so lucky to have been assigned a great partner!
ReplyDeleteYou are one lucky lady. Those are both so imaginative and perfectly done. I would be displaying them in my kitchen too. How fun!!
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are amazing! I think swaps are simply a risk and if we join, we know this going in. It seems to me like it kind of balances itself in the long run...one swap is a dud, the next is wonderful. Both of yours are in the wonderful catagory!
ReplyDeleteWow, they are just so beautiful. I understand what you mean about wanting to really let your swap partner now you are not just being nice. You really made out this time!!
ReplyDeleteBoth are fabulous. But the tikki room just makes me smile:)It's one of my favorite things in Disney.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you do all of your swaps?
You have definitely received some beautiful items. They are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI know why you love them both so much , their work is so similar to yours , just gorgeous ,and so creative !
ReplyDeleteHow fantastic are they both!
ReplyDeleteYou and your swap buddies are so talented. I love both of your items. I can't imagine sitting a mug on that rug, for fear of a dribble of coffee or tea. I have a soffet in my kitchen and I think that a row of similar sized hangings would be such a warm welcome each morning. I would actually WANT to get up, just to see them everyday!

Carol, you are right - best swapping week ever! They are both just amazing. Your partners outdid themselves for you (because you do so much for the flickr swapping community!). I couldn't be happier for you!
ReplyDeleteWow! Looks like you really hit the jackpot but that is only far as whoever received your pieces would have been just as lucky!
ReplyDeleteThose are fantastic. I have the Tiki Room song running thru my head now!! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the perspective of the houses too. Your one lucky gal!
Nice swap packages. I envy the talent....yours also, Carol!
ReplyDeleteThis is why I would NEVER want to swap with you because I would be the lucky one and you would be Oh so disappointed. Those 2 gifts were so similar to your style of applique!! WOW!! I am amazed at the detail.
ReplyDeleteI sure need to look closely and try to take lessons. I still can't believe you do raw edge applique and have it turn out so beautifully, just like your swap partners did.
Blessings
Gmama Jane
