I've been having such fun! My house looks like a mess and we have been eating some strange meals, but who cares? Sometimes it's better to feed the soul and creativity within! (At least that's what I tell my hubby! And then he just looks at me funny, shakes his head and walks away with his car keys, probably on his way to some fast food joint. lol) Seriously, I sometimes just "get in the zone" and can hardly pull myself away. For the person who works in a studio that wouldn't be bad, I suppose, but remember, I sew on our kitchen table, cut fabric on the kitchen island, and set up the ironing board in the space between. Often, I just push the sewing machine to the side when we eat.......it's at hubby's spot, so what do I care? I used to love it when he worked and traveled for business. I'd even keep the mess around while I was working. Now, I basically have to clean up my schnibbles everyday.
I finished the Charley Harper quilt. It turned out a bit narrower than I wanted at 11 1/2 inches, but that's okay. I had a ball making it and I LOVE the way it turned out:
Did you notice? I even got to use some buttons on it! Wow! I love buttons! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was burying those threads from all that straight line quilting. Ugh! Usually, I cut them off but decided to do it the right way for a change. Now I know why I cut them off! lol I don't have patience for that kind of thing! Besides, it's a wall hanging, who's going to see?
Yesterday I made two more of this:
I loved that mug rug and I needed a few little gifts. The new ones didn't turn out exactly the same, but that's what fun. One of a kind is the best kind of gift anyway! I have the binding and buttons on one of them yet to finish and then off to the post office and the quilt shop. I have a new project....and I have to go shopping! Awwww.......!!! Hope you're having fun too!
Carol, están preciosas!!! son muy alegres y divertidas y los botones le quedan geniales. Un beso
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous projects. I can see why you had a hard time stopping to eat.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilts...but that is no surprise. The second one reminds me of those little tags you find in nice clothes that have a couple of extra buttons sewn on them.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you make next.
Ok, I'm gonna have to call you later to find out what you are up to now! LOL Your Charlie Harper is awesome. I saw on flickr someone said he was in a forest, but I think he's in the big city.
ReplyDeleteWhen these jewels are the end result, who needs to eat? At least at the table (aka your studio), let
ReplyDeletethose creative juices flow girl =)
I love Charley Harper's cardinals! Your quilt is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteFabulous piece, love the outside border & the buttons Question, perhaps a dumb one, what is the red thing hanging from the bird?

¡¡¡Qué me gustan!!!! son preciosos y superoriginales...un estilo muy alegre. Felicidades.
ReplyDeleteMy Hubby smelled what I made for my late lunch so I have to quit sewing and make him a BLT now. Our Tomatoes are finally ripe! It's the best time for them. I love the red bird! I always look at your work and think, I could do that, but I know I never will. Still enjoying my portrait of me and my quilt buddy. We get lots of comments on them.
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love your creativity. I sometimes hate how small my sewing area is now, but . . . I have to GRUDGINGLY admit that by putting stuff away more often, I actually stay more focused on the project at hand. But don't tell that to my husband, or he might expect me to be neat even when we get a bigger place!!
ReplyDeleteYour Charlie Harper is awesome. I love how the border works with him. Just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYour Charley Harper cardinal is outstanding and I have to tell you that Dianne is thrilled that you took her commission!! I can't wait to see her version in person one day! She told everyone at retreat last weekend how excited she is about it. win-win!
ReplyDeleteI ADORE the cardinal!! LOVE LOVE LOVE....I have a Charlie Harper desk calender--love changing the page each week to see what pics are next. You did an awsome job!
ReplyDeleteLove your Charlie Harper bird! I've been pinning pictures of his birds so that I could do a quilt and then I came across yours... BEAUTIFUL... exactly what I'd like to do. Thanks for the inspiration.
