Hmmmmm, not so good, I don't think! And after all my hard work too. I think this quilt took me almost 2 days to quilt with my contemplation of what exactly I should do. In the end, I was mostly pleased with it, except for the bird and to this day, I still wonder if I should take him off and make a new one a bit more contemporary. I'm not so much for making "real" looking birds you know. Wonky and whimsey are more my style. But, right now it's done and I was going to send it to my partner until I re-read her likes and dislikes........uh duh.......where was my brain? She doesn't like pastels. I don't know if you can really call the pink a pastel on this quilt. You decide:
The bottom is neat though, dontcha think?
To be honest, unless I see my partner finally say something (anything at all), I just might send this to her anyway. So far, I haven't seen her comment on a thing.....and not just from me, but from anyone! You know, it kinda makes you wonder, doesn't it? Why bother to join a swap unless you want to play a bit? I don't get it! In the meantime though, I am in process of starting another one (just in case). So far, I'm liking this one too....but we'll see! At least I'm staying busy.
I love it! Its you but a subdued you? Not in a bad way. And that pink is NOT pastel. Its too bold. I love this! And I agree! When I do a swap I always try to comment on as many photos or discussions as I can.
ReplyDeleteI guess I am finally your partner (bc I've been silent on Flickr). I love the bird! And The pink here is not a pastel pink at all!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a pastel project.
ReplyDeleteYou are just too nice Carol. Now I know it's not for me because I commented. I wonder too about those who never have a thing to say. Like my partner in the same swap....
ReplyDeleteI love it Carol...the pink is a great shade (not pastel at all) and all the details...including the cute bird...are great!! Hopefully, your swap partner will comment and love it as well!!
ReplyDeleteSo NOT pastel...and I 'wish' I was your partner because I would just be tickled PINK to get this!!! But alas, since I've not joined in a swap of any kind, anywhere...I guess the chances are pretty slim I could be your 'alternate' partner...LOL. LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteI think all you need to do is give a little "life" to the bird.... some dots or spots or .... The piece is really neat and creative, just needs those final touches.
ReplyDeleteI love it!! And no, it is not pastel at all. And the little bird is a bit quirky, so fits in nicely!
ReplyDeleteBut I am not in a swap either...so I guess I won't be getting this!
I've had several partners like that, and it always aggravates me. I never have any idea if I'm going in the right or wrong direction, but on the flip side, it doesn't really bother me if I don't make something that s/he loves. If they cared, they'd chime in! :)
ReplyDeleteNo, that's not pastel pink! Time for an eye exam, Carol. This is why I don't swap much, partners like this take the fun out of it. I sure do like Maria's attitude, but there's not much fun in that either. I think your wip is going to be really cool!
ReplyDeleteThat piece is not pastel, it is just perfect. It is modern and the quilting is wonderful. I love that little orange swoosh at the top and all of it. In two of my recent swaps my partners commented on a couple of things (not mine) and then went totally silent for the remainder of the swap. I agree with you, it is far less fun that way. You can always send it to me, I would so love to receive it.
ReplyDeleteI love it so if I send you my address can you send it to me instead? We have been busy moving at the weekend and I could do with something new to hang on my wall in my new space :o) hugs x
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is amazing. I am not a fan of pastel colors, but that pink is not a pastel. It's a gorgeous pink. If your partner doesn't want it, send it to me. :-D
ReplyDeleteLove where your Charley bird is heading.
I guess there would be plenty of others who would be more than happy to have this living on their wall! That's one reason I have cut back on swaps this year! And because I have received things that were so not ME, that I think they just threw anything together! I now prefer to swap with blogging friends!
ReplyDeleteCarol your quilt is perfect and the recipient a very lucky person indeed!
ReplyDeleteChris x
Carol this quilt is just beautiful! So original. The pink doesn't look at all pastel when you have the other colors mixed in there too. I certainly hope the recipient of this gorgeous quilt appreciates all the great work that went into it. While you do lean toward the whimsy in much of your work, the bird you used in this more modern-looking quilt works better than a whimsical one would.
ReplyDeleteNot pastel at all...I'd call it bright pink! Go for it...how could any one not like one of your creations?
ReplyDeleteDon't give up on her...I haven't commented either. Been out of sync getting my boys ready for school.
ReplyDeleteI keep wanting some music to be flowing from that little birdie...maybe some brightly colored notes made from tiny buttons.
Hi Carol, I'm in your mug rug swap as well. My partner also hasn't said a word, posted a picture or been active except for the fact she signed up. I must say, I'm disappointed, but as I realize (and you have also said, that's just the say some folks are).
ReplyDeleteThe main reason I join these types of things is for inspiration and to do something nice for someone else. I have gotten inspiration from those who are involved, and I am doing something nice for someone...even if I don't know much about them!
I love your little bird and the quilting on this project is really cool! (Definitely not pastel!)
I'm very inspired by your work, by the way.
Definitely NOT pastel! When I first looked, I thought the threads through the buttons were tiny little people dancing, it wasn't until I looked closer until I realised! Think i need glasses...Oh, i already wear contact lenses!
ReplyDeleteAs for your partner, I'd stop making an effort. I'm not a swapper myself but i've heard other bloggers mention silent partners, it's not in the spirit of things so don't knock yourself out about it.
This is just gorgeous, lovely use of fabrics and great quilting. People not commenting? - quite sad really although there are some blogs I follow but have never commented on. But in a swap or group blog, it's disappointing and off-putting if someone doesn't comment.
ReplyDeleteIt's Fabulous and whimsical. Definitely not pastel! Love it! I'll be in your swap! Perhaps "life" happened to your. . .
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt and I think the bird fits so well with your design! I like pastels but that's not - it's lovely pink! x Teje
ReplyDeleteI love it...send it to her. My partners in several swaps are rather quiet, but I know life has been busy for them too.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this is soooo stunning Carol - I just love it to death and wish it was for me! Your partner is crazy if s/he doesn't like it!
ReplyDeleteI love it and the pink is NOT pastel. So be quick and sent it!
ReplyDeleteSend it, it's perfect! My favorite is the quilting on the pink area.

Nope, no pastel present. If your partner doesn't want it I will gladly take it off of your hands. The quilting is FAB!!!
ReplyDeleteVery much looking forward to the cardinal wall hanging. It is a cardinal isn't it?
Hi, Carol. Just happened upon your delightful blog. I agree with all of the above--great piece! Loved your posts on coloring with crayons on fabric, which I've been thinking about playing with for awhile. Also enjoyed your Flickr photos. Marvelous work!
ReplyDeletebest from Tunisia, nadia
Pastel?? what pastel?? - pink??? that pink?? no way is it pastel.
ReplyDeleteI doubt you even own what I think is pastel!!
Another stunning little quilt.
I agree about your partner though - isn't the whole idea to have fun??
