Not much going on here today, but I just wanted to pop in a show you a few things. First off, I got this gorgeous quilt from the "Little Quilt - sew, vote, swap" group:
That was made by "jgmehlin" aka Julie and was all paper pieced (if you can believe??) Flips me out because I still cannot, for the life of me, do paper piecing.......'course, I haven't really had the time to try lately, but I don't think I would be any better now than before, so why bother??? (You know what they say about teaching old dogs new tricks!!) My talents go in other directions, I guess, and that's why I so appreciate the talents of those fine paper-piecers. WOW!!
I did finish two other smallish quilts for swaps, BUT because I haven't even sent one out yet, and the other apparently has not arrived to that partner yet, I can only show you sneak peeks. (Bummer, I know!)
So, that's it for today. I'm working on some other stuff, in my head if no where else. LOL I get these crazy ideas and then I pull out all this fabric for one or another and then I have such a mess I don't know where to go, or what I was doing in the first place. EIKES!!!! Does that ever happen to you??? It's not a wonder my dining room table looks like a quilt shop exploded! If I could only stick to one thing, I'd probably be lots better off. Does this sound like ADD???? Kinda, huh? Can you get ADD at my age?

What size is that quilt from Julie? That looks like a ton of paper piecing! I love those two sneak peeks, both flower styles are so cute!

Holy cow! Your partner is the paper piecing master. Gorgeous!
Merciful heavens at that quilt! And the sneak peeks are making me want more for sure!
This may be a silly question. But I'm curious, how do you keep the fabric from fraying when you do sewing like that with the flowers? I'm honestly asking because I do not know because I am a beginner quilter and love learning new things. :)
Oh my gosh! Lucky you to receive such a gorgeous little quilt.
Actually I was wondering about the fraying also when you machine appliqué, that's one reason I've never done it.
When I raw edge applique (like I did on the flower sneak peek, I fuse the fabric pieces down before I sew them down with a product like Steam a Seam (I actually like that product best, but there are many fusible products). Since this is a wall hanging and probably will not be washed, there is little chance of fraying. Sometimes, I zig zag all the pieces down. It depends upon the piece I'm working on. If the pieces are tiny, I have no choice but to raw edge applique.
Wow that is beautiful!
Awesome!! :)
That quilt from Julie is amazing! Wow!
That's a gorgeous little quilt you received....lucky you.

Paper pieced how unbelievably breathtaking! Wonder if she came up with that pattern.
Love your 2 projects--much detail and TALENT lady!
Do you go to the quilt shop in West Bend? I sent my FIL in there the a week ago to get me some goodies for Christmas. {He asked!} Then my MIL went in there with him again the other day and she loves it {she doesn't even quilt} She loves the ladies int here! Isn't that funny??!
What a GREAT paper pieced project! I'm impressed!
Your sneak peeks are soooo tantalizing. Can't wait to see them in full!
