I told you I'd show you my favorite pincushion that I made recently and so here it is:
And the pieced back (which seemed to generate more interest than the front...much to my dismay!
I just love the simplicity of the front.......and.....I suppose the back's not bad either.....LOL!! Fancy schmancy little apple pin topper, dontcha think? Darn thing cost me $6.30 in shipping, I'll have you know! BUT, I did get some of that Fimo stuff to try my hand at making some and this is what I did yesterday in only an hour:
Granted, my mushrooms leave something to be desired, but the apples aren't too bad, I don't think. I posted these on Flickr, complaining that I couldn't get the dough soft and pliable enough to use decently and someone was wise enough to tell me to sit on the blocks for 15 minutes before I use them. Duh! Brilliant! How come I didn't think of that? I suppose I could put them in my bra too, huh? Nothing like warming up your dough properly......e-gads!!! (I have yet to try it.) Maybe I should get me some more colors first? 'Course, knowing me, I'll make 100 and then won't know what to do with them! Ask me how I know that...........
The only other thing that's new is this:
I had to make this for a dear Flickr friend who just cracks me up. She is such a delight, and so kind, and funny, and really talented too. You'll find her blog here. I knew she'd appreciate my humor.
So, that's it for today folks. The only other thing I've been doing is strip piecing to try to catch up on some older stuff. I need to get a project off my dining room table to make room for something new. You probably remember this:
Well, I'm working on it. Wish me luck! 6 circles to go and I can get to the next phase. Hopefully it'll be all pieced by this weekend........

Giggles!! Hey if you want it flattened really good, I will sit on it for you!
I love your pin cushion! I like the red contrast against the brilliant white. Very nice. And your small applique quilt just cracks me up. What FUN!
Love the quilt! What a fun thing to hang on a wall. When you're feeling bad, just take a peek at the wall hanging & perk right up! Love your apples & mushrooms, too. Might have to try that someday...way too many other things on the list right now. :)
Bet you can sell your PINS! and love the quilt ( bet she does too!)
Ooooooh! I love everything! Your pins are delightful, and I agree you could certainly sell them. Think of all the other wondeful things you could make . . . ladybugs, flowers, so many things to think of!
Your quilt is too cute for words. I want to meet his lady just from your rendering!
And the colors on your WIP are spectacular. But I'm biased, I'm a color girl! hehehe.
I usually soften my clay in my bra. Under your armpit is good too. YOu can do anything with clay and your pins were a great idea and turned out good.
The quilt is too cute. I like both sides of the pincussion. I love the name tags you add to your projects. Do you make them yourself? Very cool!
Now see ... very inspirational ideas you have here :) Thank you for sharing ... the quilt is adorable and looks as fun as your friend must be :)
p.s. I like the front (plainer) side myself ... gorgeously simplicitic ... :)
What a very cute and lovely pin cushion!
I love your mushrooms. I think the "not purfect" part adds the magic to them. That wall hanging is great. I love your style!!!
You did a great job on all your projects. The one you made for your flickr friend brought a smile to my face. :)
Hey I loved the front better then the back! Im the other crazy pintopper maker. I made some more. I use sculpeyIII. My research told me it is more pliable, and is better for small objects, less brittle then Fimo. Loving the string too.
Love it all - as usual - but epecailly the quirky lady. Love your pins - but where do you get such long pins??
The pincushion is sweet , I like the simplicity of it as well and the contrast in color . The quilt for your friend definitely put a smile on my face so I am sure your friend loves it . The strip piecing looks really neat , can't wait to see how that turns out !
OH GOSH gee willackers..YOU sew inspire me...love pin cushions too....love Susan image...wow!...yes you indeed inspire me..
These are absolutely "WOW"!!!!! What fun to create mini works of art. I needed a canvas for some experimental quilting techniques (things I want to learn) this may be it... Not sure you might be willing to share this...but I am desperate for some tags, I love your little tag...MIght I ask where you had them made!!!! Thanks....
Those are the cutest pincushions and I can't believe you made those cute needles too! I think your mushrooms are too cute!
