Who'd guess?

Yup!  Who'd ever guess that a 3# 4 oz puppy could so completely exhaust me?  I am pooped and we
are only on our 3rd day together.  Actually, on Tuesday, we came home with two of them......a boy and girl and thought they could become great friends.  She was the assertive one.  On Wednesday morning when I thought perhaps I should comb them out and perhaps trim the bottom of their pads (the breeder didn't even cut their nails once and I figured she didn't teach them the fine points of behaving for grooming either), I picked up the boy and combed him out and he made nothing of it.  When I did the girl though, she fought and scratched and growled and that's when I knew I'd have a problem on my hands if she stayed.  I put up with one dog like that for 12 years and never again.  Originally, when we took them home, I told the lady that I didn't know if 2 would work and she told me to see how it went for a few days since she had tons of calls and would let me return one if I wanted.  A wonderful gesture to be sure!  So, the girl is gone and my baby boy has grown into his own without her just fine although I am the new playmate instead of her.

Toby

A bit of runny eyes, but he's teething so I'm hoping that will stop, especially when I give him filtered water which makes all the difference in the world sometimes:

Toby

I'm hoping he won't get much bigger than 10 lbs.  As you can see, he loves laying in the sun.

Say "hi" to Toby!  The newest member of our family and hopefully not the death of me!  LOL

So how much sewing do you think I'll be able to do now???????

How sweet - and congratulations! Oh, he needs his own little quilt to learn to lay upon while you sew.

what a sweet little baby! You'll just have to sew during nap time, unless you have to nap with him. :)

Congradulations! We started out with two brothers--that didn't work! We now have an 8 month old and a 3 month old. They get along GREAT! The 3 month old, Zeke, is asleep under my chair in my sewing room. He likes to be with me.

I got a puppy when my youngest son left home. I had owned dogs before but never a puppy. Let me tell you - I rarely got a chance to sew! But it was soooo worth it, she is truly my best friend. Congratulations!

...and what Andra Gayle said is true - they do calm down eventually ;o)

He is almost the most adorable doggie in the world, (almost, because mine is the most! lol). I have had 2 dogs at a time and I have had 1 dog at a time. I much prefer 1. That makes me sooo much more important to him. I'm really happy for you!!

Congratulations! He is adorable. I'd been wondering if you had a puppy yet! He will be great fun for you, and your quilting will be there when he sleeps.

Yeah, you finally got your new baby. When do we see a baby quilt for the little guy??? You know I have heard that even puppies love quilts!

Awwww you named him Toby just like mine and he looks just as sweet too! What a cute. Enjoy his baby stage while it lasts. I'm sure you will be able to be back sewing in no time while he naps sweetly next to you. Thinking positively for you anyway :) Xx

He's a doll! I'm in the same boat. A playpen in the sewing room has helped a lot.

What a good looking little guy! We just got a puppy about two weeks ago. Getting up every 2 to 3 hours at night is killing me. Ours is still to little to be crate trained but some day we will. What do you do with your little guy at night?

I have a 10lb 5 yr old Malteese and he's the best dog I've ever had. Has a bit of the "small dog" issue, but so smart and totally devoted pets. I keep him with a puppy cut, because even though his breeder fussed over everyday with combing and all, he still hates it and thus the puppy cut. He's the best friend, (Bogie, actually Humphrey Bogart) from Malteese Falcon. Luckily, our breeder is close by and specializes in Malteese, so I know where to get the next one, but two - that was brave, they do like to be the center of attention.
Good luck with yours, Beth

Carol, my grandma had this same exact breed of dog and his name was...Toby!! He was so cute. Yours is just as cute. It sounds like you two are getting along very well together. Now, the question is...will he let you sew??? :)

He is such a cutie and I hope he brings you many years of joy Carol. We are having lots of fun with our little one and she too has the watery eyes and after reading what you said about the teething bit I am hoping it passes once she has stopped teething too. Have fun with Toby :) hugs Vicki
