Lady #55 plus more........

Boy, oh boy, do I have the stuff to show you today and believe it or not, even some of it is sewing related.  (I know I have been a slacker in that department lately, but I have been having such fun drawing and using my amazing Copic markers that I just can't seem to stop!  Needless to say, you WILL be seeing some fun mail too!)

First though, let me present Lady #55, Noel, from Spain.  (Yes, Spain!)  I am getting to be quite an international artist, I guess, huh?  Last time, South Africa and now Spain?  Woo-hoo!  Keep um coming, I say!  I think I'm up to 5 continents now!  Anyhow, this is Noel.  I posted the original photo she sent to me plus another one with her and "herself" which she was kind enough to send me.

Then, I don't know if you remember, but I had to make a pincushion for the Pincushion Swap that I am in.  I plan on making another one, just for fun and to see which I like better, but so far I only have this one made:



Pretty cool how I "stage" the pincushion with appropriate colored pins, doncha think?  (In reality, you have no idea how long it took to find those pins that I had stuck away somewhere.  Probably as long as it took to make the crazy pincushion.  lol)  I really should keep my stuff all together somewhere!!

Then, we have the envelopes (again).  I truly love making these.....and sending them, and wondering the facial expressions of those receiving them.  I hope there are lots of smiles........!!!  I know my little great niece is loving hers.  (I'm spoiling her with two a week now.)  The first contains an early reader...as the original plan....but now I add an "a-z mystery" book to her collection as well.  This week, it was one titled, "The Vampire's Vacation".





Finally, I will just post the remainder of the envelopes that went out in this week's mail.  (I must admit the the post office is loving me!!  I have been spending a shit-load of $$ on stamps!)















Whew.....there you have it!  Please don't think that all those drawings are self thought up......heavens NO!  I'd never be able to think up so many cute things without help!  I copy images from all over....greeting cards, clip art, fabrics, wallpaper, etc.   I do hand draw them and color them but I do copy them mostly from tiny images onto the 6x9" envelopes (my newest favorite size.)  They are not for sale!  I am doing this just for fun....just for the enjoyment of the recipient!  If you need a smile, let me know..........hopefully, I won't run out of stamps!  lol  Until next time!

And who'd guess (at least where I live) that it's really summer.  Lately, our highs for the day have only been in the low 70's.  What a change from last summer where we had soooo many 100 degree days!  Not much swimming this year, I can tell you that!  Brrrr!  I probably would have been smarter to put in an ice rink........and believe me, when we did have the pool dug all those years ago, I did think of that!  lol

It's been another boring week around here creativity wise.  If I wouldn't have so much darn company, I could  keep a dirtier house.  It seems like I'm cleaning something all the time these days instead of sewing or drawing!  I do have a stack of "yet to mail" envelopes to Audrey though so I'm set for awhile:



I've been having so much fun coordinating the envelopes to the titles of the books!  Just wait....you'll see!

I did get an amazing quilt from Teri Emerson for the QT swap.  If you recall, the theme was "Under the Sea".  Remember, I sent her this:



Well, look at the beauty she sent to me:



It's 12 x 10" and all 3 dimensional.  The background (which doesn't show up properly) is aqua organza sprinkled with sparkles.  She used so much "bling" and embellishments, I wish you all could see this up close.  It is amazing!  Little Miss Mermaid is sooo cute with her blue hair flowing around her.  How lucky was I, huh?  What a wonderful partner to make me such a beauty!  Thank you, Teri!  I love it!

One of these days, I MUST get to that pincushion I need to make!  Maybe the weekend?  We'll see!

Other than that, I only have boring envelopes to show this week.  Not too many have gotten to Annie so far, so this is the only one for this week:



And I messed up his feet before I even sent it.  Dummy me!  I colored his shoes with a black glaze gel pen to make them shiny, and then proceeded to dust off the whole envelope......duh!  I figured Annie would understand though, and besides, I already had the stamp on the envelope.

Then, Audrey, my little sweet 5 year old great niece got these for her readers this week.  I don't remember the name of the book I put in the 1st envelope, but the 2nd contained a book from the a-z mystery series titled, "The Panda Puzzle".   She's loving this series, but it's a bit advanced for her yet, so her mama is reading them to her.

This will be a boring post!

That is a warning!  Not much new with me, I'm afraid.  I haven't sewn a stitch except finish Lady #55 who is flying her way to Spain as I type.  Hopefully, it won't take forever to get to her owner!  I did make a few envelopes this week and I did shop for more books for my sweet great niece.  Lately, she is not only into the early readers, but is enjoying the "a-z mystery" series that her mother reads to her every night.  I can't tell you how excited we are at the discovery that Audrey likes mysteries as much as the rest of the family.  From little on, most of us have indulged in one mystery series or another.  So, let me start with showing you her envelopes of the week.  Remember that I had our family pool party last Sunday so naturally, she had to have a girl swimmer:



And then, I sent her the "S" of the A-Z Mystery series named, "The School Skeleton":



Needless to say, I'm not such a good skeleton drawer.  lol

Naturally, I also sent envelopes to my friend, Annie, in California.  I try to make hers funny!  She challenged me to drawing myself with a sign so I obliged.



Seriously, that is almost exactly how I look.  A bit fatter, I think, but don't tell anyone!  I love red and blue jeans, and I do have red loafers on this exact minute!

So, there you have it!  I really should be working on a pincushion for a swap.  Good thing I have a few weeks yet.  This weekend, all I plan on doing is making envelopes for Audrey's new books.  They have to be coordinated, you know.  lol  Hope you are doing something you love too!  Until later......

It's been a busy week.........

How about some show and tell?  Since I have had lots of stuff delivered this week, I think that's exactly what I'll do.  Hope you don't mind.  As you know, my friend Annie, who lives in California (but used to live 20 minutes from me), and I exchange arty envelopes on a regular basis.  Here are the ones she's received this week from me:

Then, to my little ones....specifically Audrey, I sent two books this week.  The first one contained the book, "Eloise's Pirate Adventure", and the second, "A-Z Mystery - "The Missing Mummy".

Sorry about the quality of that last picture.  My camera is on the "fritz" and in for repair so I had to resort to my old one for now.  Here is another picture taken with that one.  This envelope went to my granddaughter.  I enclosed some stickers I bought at Target:

Then..........IF you can believe..........I sewed this week.  My QT swap quilt (8 x 10 1/2 inches) was delivered to my partner, but before that, my visiting niece saw it while here and flipped over it and asked if I'd make a bigger one for her little 11 month old since his room is done in fishes.  So the first one is the little one and the 2nd a bigger copy at 14x18 inches.

So, there you have it!  My week (or a partial week as it goes) in a nutshell.....or rather an envelope!  lol  Today I am organizing my brain for our family pool party this weekend.  Too bad our weather will go from the 90's to low 70's by Sunday.  Hopefully, I'll still have some swimmers.  The water (at 90 degrees) will be warmer than the air.

Lady #54 (Karen) plus more

Sometimes I really get concerned about shipping my "ladies", especially when I have to send them to places unknown to me in my general geography knowledge............you know........the places you have to look up on a map because you have no clue where it is???  Lady #54 (Karen) was one of those ladies.  Karen lives in South Africa.  Now, I'm not a complete idiot, I did know where South Africa was, but the concept of sending something that far and having it get there in any reasonable amount of time was completely out of my imagination.  BUT.....guess what?  Karen got it in ONLY 3 weeks!  Can you believe?  E-gads, I've had stuff to Canada take longer than that!  Go figure!!  So, my friends, let me present, Lady #54 ......Karen:

And then...........this is the cute photograph she sent me with her quilt when she got it.  (Note the tape measure in her hair to match the one on the quilt.)  Thanks Karen!  I'm so glad you love yourself!  lol

On a different note, I did send Audrey two early readers this week in my decorated envelopes.  I've been collecting so many books to send to her, she is going to need a bookcase by the time we're done, I'm thinking.  lol  Her mom tells me that she gets excited now every time the mailman comes.



That one contained the book, "Diary of a Worm".  (Clever, huh?)



And that one had a book called, "Oliver" which was about an elephant being delivered to a circus.

I did find a book about Lalapoosy collectors dolls for my granddaughter so sent her an envelope too this week.  She's a bit too young yet for reading, but loves the Lalapoosy mini dolls:



Then, last but not least, Annie got two envelopes from me this week.  (She should have had at least 3, but one apparently is missing in the mail.)





It's been hot in California, you know, and I figured she might need to cool off in a kiddy pool.  lol

So, that's it.  It's been a lazy week.  I've mainly been watching the Martin/Zimmerman trial and cleaning up a few things around here.   This next week I have to get going on our annual pool party held here every year.  Pray for nice weather........please!!!  Until then...........
