Sewin', envelopes & books (again)

First off I MUST show you the awesome mini quilt I received from Ruthie who was my QT partner.  She is the best paper piecer I know and created this 9 inch square beauty especially for me:

Ruthie likes pink and green, so this is what I made for her.  The theme was quilted houses:

Mine ended up at 9" x 7 1/2".  The rules state that they must stay under 12 inches square.

Then…..as usual….I sent out a bunch of envelopes this week.  We did have some birthdays in the family, so there were more envelopes than usual.  (Yes, my relatives ALL expect a special envelope for their birthday now no matter how old they are.)  lol

On top of that, Lady #70, Beverly from the US got her portrait in the mail so I can now introduce her to you.  I also will show you the one photo she sent, but I used a different one to make her quilt, so it might not exactly look like her:

I chopped her out of a bigger photo.  Can you tell?

On top of all that, I finished 3 books this week…….all which had over 400 pages…..ugh!  No fast reading this week!!

"The Storyteller"             by       Jodi Picoult
"Missing You"                by       Harlan Coben
"The Pieces We Keep"    by       Kristina McMorris

By far, the last one was the best one.  I could hardly put it down!  So, that's the news here.  Today I am going to start the book, "Fallen Beauty" by Erika Robuck.  I won a free copy through Goodreads so I figure I should read it and give a review.  It's a historical fiction novel about the poet, Edna St. Vincent Millay with only 354 pages so it should go fast.

So, my friends, happy reading or happy sewing….whatever your pleasure!  Until next time…...

Houses is a great theme for quilting and BOTH little quilts are so cute! Buttons on the roofs is a fun surprise detail! Love the newest fun envelopes and another wonderful fabric portrait. And happy reading!

The quilts are gorgeous! Very inspiring too. Are the envelopes quilted too?

Love the "houses"
Did you enjoy the Storyteller?? I have read all Jodi Picoult's books but just couldn't manage that one...too sad/stressful/confronting ...not sure what but I gave up on it.
Welcome Beverly to the Ladies Club!

When I saw the picture of the woman on your post I though I knew her, then said, no, can't be. Then yesterday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop Bev showed me the darling quilt you made for her. I'm posting a picture of her with it tomorrow on my blog. So cute!
